PS4
Growing up in a small suburb in America, the houses that surrounded me were always well kept. I developed a fascination with abandoned buildings at a very young age due to the fact that they were something different. I would always look at the buildings; never enter, never photograph. After moving to Jacksonville and seeing more and more abandoned buildings in and around the places I went, I found Public School Number 4. I promised herself that she would build up the courage to not only look at the building but she would enter it as well.
I found beauty in the abandonment of it: the remnants of what the building used to be, the vandalism and graffiti, the traces others like me had left. I went back to the building many more times before deciding to photograph it.
